Champagne La Parcelle

In 2012 Stephanie Chevreux and Julien Bournazel purchased a small plot of 40 ares following twenty years experience working in the vineyards of champagne. The plot, La Parcelle in Barzy-sur-Marne, sits on a 40 degree slope overlooking the Marne Valley and is 100% pinot meunier planted in the 1980s. Conversion to organic and biodynamic methods began in 2012, and certification was received in 2015.

A second plot in nearby Connigis was added in 2016, bringing total production to a mere 3,000 bottles. Both plots are worked by hand to the same exacting standards, with fertiliser provided by their very own herd of goats. Cover crops are maintained and the soil is regularly worked. Rigorous sorting takes place before grapes are pressed, fermented with native yeasts and aged in old oak barrels without malolactic fermentation.

The result is a truly handcrafted champagne with amazing concentration and complexity, a bright fruit core backed up by a vibrant, saline acidity.
